CONSIDERATIONS WHEN CHOOSING A BIOMETHANE SHIPPER
There are 3 MAIN Issues TO CONSIDER for Biomethane Projects
1. Gas shippers min energy level is circa 25,000 therms/day
- Typical biomethane energy production is 2,000 to 3,000 therms/day
2. Gas shippers have standard contracts designed for larger projects
Examples include:
- Daily balancing
- Scheduling charges
- Obligations on volumes/nominations/penalties for under-deliveries
- Admin and legal costs disproportionate for small biomethane flows
3. Gas shippers are interested in Green Gas Certificates but want them for ‘their’ customers
- Biomethane producer may want the GGC’s for ‘their’ customers
